Nurul- Bayan Academy marks cultural day

Nurul-Bayan International Academy, Abuja over the weekend celebrated its  cultural day during which it showcased some Nigerian and worldwide cultures.

The pupils, who were dressed in different cultural attires of different countries and cultures, thrilled parents and visitors with dances, drama and other performances which showcased different talents and cultures. The cultural day, tagged ‘Unity in Diversity’, had pupils performing a variety of drama presentations that portrayed Nigeria’s unity in diversity.

Speaking at the event, the executive director of the academy, Hajiya Maryam Muhammad Tahan, said the it was organised to draw attention to the declining cultural values in Nigeria and impact on the younger ones the need  to unite and embrace their culture at a very tender age so they can understood one another better.

“We realise that the only way Nigerians can be united is through culture, therefore, we are exhibiting the rich cultural heritage of the country and encouraging the use of the mother tongue. 

“Although English is the official language, it is imperative to also keep practicing and speaking our various languages to keep them alive,” she noted.
