Nuurul Hudaa Islamiyya, a school in the Kuduru community of Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, at the weekend celebrated its second Walimat graduation ceremony.

Twenty-seven students graduated from various Qur’anic and Islamic studies programmes at the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, the school’s proprietor, Malam Suleiman Usman Bida, expressed gratitude for the progress the school has made since it was established in 2018 with fewer than 20 students. “Alhamdulillah, now we have more than 200 students,” he said.

Malam Bida also noted that the school offers Qur’anic memorization classes on weekends, with weekdays dedicated to Arabic and Islamic studies as well as Tilawa.

Among the graduates, three students memorized half of the Qur’an, 10 memorized 20 Hizbs, and one memorized 10 Hizbs. The remaining students completed other levels of Islamic studies.

Malam Bida appealed for support to build a permanent school structure, as the Islamiyya currently operates in rented facilities and part of a Local Education Authority (LEA) school. He also highlighted the school’s academic excellence, mentioning that some alumni are studying in Russia, Egypt, and local universities. He urged scholars to continue preaching peace, citing Islam as a religion of peace.

The representative of the graduating students, Malama Hajiya Isah Ladi, expressed appreciation to the school’s management and teachers.

A notable graduate was Maimuna Usman, the daughter of a former Christian who converted to Islam.
