Salam said yesterday in Abuja that though he has heard about the letter written by Nwanyanwu, he is yet to be formally given one.
“I have seen the letter addressed to me by Barrister Dan Nwanyanwu that he has resigned. But what was most embarrassing was his allegation that I used one national security chief to collect money from the South-South. What Dan Nwanyanwu was trying to do was what former President Olusegun Obasanjo was doing to President Goodluck Jonathan, he wants to administer the Villa from Otta. Dan too wants to administer Labour Party from wherever, even after spending 11 years in the office.
“If there is fraud, is it the chairman of Board of Trustees (BOT) who should resign or members of the National Working Committee (NWC) or members of the NEC who should call the chairman to order. I do not want to drag issues with Nwanyanwu, he should find solace in whatever situation he is and to leave the Labour Party alone. His resignation did not come to us and Nigerians as a surprise, it was long seen. If at this time he decide to leave the party, it is good for him and us. We have accepted his resignation in good faith and to us it is forward ever backward never,” Salam said.
When asked to comment on parts of the letter that Nwanyanwu had confronted him on pertinent issues, he said there is no need to confront him as the NWC and the NEC are there to confront him, and that there is nothing special about him that would warrant answers on all issues whether he knows of it or not.
