The North Africans came from a goal down to defeat hard-fighting Nigerians 3-2 at the El Maktoum Stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Thursday.

Nwosu told SuperSport.com that the import of the match will be missed if the result became the sole measuring point.

“It will be improper to judge the team by the result; the result is not bad considering the quality of opposition. Although I would have loved to see the team wraps up the good showing with a win.

“We should stop giving excuses or playing to the gallery rather stamps our authority at any given time.

“The lesson is that a game is not over until it is declared over by the officiating officials. This game could have ended 2-2 if not the mix up, loss of concentration in the back line,” Nwosu said.

The former Nigerian captain would want Coach Stephen Keshi to work on the observed lapses in the defence and midfield before the next assignments.

“Blunders in the back line mean that we’re not learning fast. Keshi must quickly move in to work on the defence and midfield before the AFCON and World Cup assignments.

“Keshi is doing a fantastic work with the domestic players, he must not relent until we have a formidable squad,” he said.
