The Nigerian Writers Series (NWS) is focusing on Children’s Literature this year as ANA calls for submissions for the second phase of its publishing intervention, the NWS, under its NWS Publishers imprint.
This was contained in a release signed by Olaosebikan Taofeek, Publicity Secretary (South) of the ANA.
The submissions, which could be in poetry, prose, or drama, are to follow strict guidelines. Some notable ones include, targeted reading age ranges of between five to seven years or eight to twelve, texts that are well illustrated in colour (most preferred), and stories with heroes and heroines.
Also, a Managing Editor, Mr Osarobu Igudia, of the University of Ibadan, has been appointed for NWS Publishers, to henceforth manage all affairs in connection with the series and other publications of the Association. Mr Igudia is an editor with over 20 years of cognate experience in book editing and publishing.
In 2015 ANA flagged off the series with ten books. There was ‘Souza Boy’ by Elias Ozikpu, ‘Cupid’s Catapult’ by Hannah Onoguwe, ‘Burning Savannah’ by Hillary C. Anugba, ‘The Right Choice’ by Zahradeen Kallah’, and ‘The Oath’ by Habib Yaqoob.
There was also Ayodele Arowosegbe’s ‘Crimson Clouds’, Isaac Ogezi’s ‘The Threshing Floor’, Pever X’s ‘Cat Eyes’, Julius Bokoru’s ‘The Angel That Was Always There’, and Nnanna Ihebom’s ‘Patriots and Sinners’.
Deadline for this year’s submission of manuscripts is July 15.
