Delivering judgement in an application filed by the Speaker, Ahmadu Fintiri, Mammadi said the service of the notice of allegations against the respondent must be personal. Meanwhile, members of the Assembly have reaffirmed their decision to proceed with the impeachment process.
In a sitting attended by 9 out of 25 members presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Kwamoti Laori, the House summoned the Clerk of the House, Mr Francis Ghansenso, to brief members on his effort to serve the governor and his deputy the impeachment notices.
The Clerk presented a court affidavit he swore after his efforts to deliver the notices failed. He said the governor’s office and that of the deputy were locked when he visited and there was no one around to receive the letters.
Consequently, the House resolved that the impeachment notices should be served on Nyako and Ngillari through two national dailies. Both the Deputy Speaker and the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Adamu Kamale, declined speaking to journalists when approached.
