The Northern Youth Frontiers (NYF) has defended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the December 25, 2025 airstrikes in Sokoto State, following comments by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on the incident.

In a statement issued by its Northwest Coordinator, Saminu Tukur, the group said the airstrikes should be viewed within the broader efforts of the Federal Government to address insecurity and protect lives.

Tukur said the NYF was responding to public reactions to the operation, which involved foreign military support, and called for caution in discussing sensitive national security issues.

“The NYF believes that the actions taken by the Federal Government are part of ongoing efforts to safeguard citizens and strengthen national security,” he said.

He added that the group supports calls for transparency on the outcome of the air operation.

“Nigerians deserve clarity regarding the outcomes of the airstrikes in Sokoto State. We call on the relevant authorities to provide information on the results of the operation, as transparency and accountability are vital to sustaining public trust,” Tukur said.

The youth group noted that insecurity remains a long-standing challenge in the country and stressed the need for collective responsibility in addressing it.

“Nigeria’s security challenges require a united approach. It is our collective responsibility to address these issues with cooperation rather than division,” he said.

Tukur urged political parties and civil society organisations to engage constructively on security matters.

“We call on all political parties and stakeholders to rise above partisan interests and engage in constructive dialogue that prioritises the welfare and safety of citizens,” he said.

According to him, collaboration is essential to developing effective strategies to tackle the root causes of insecurity while strengthening the capacity of security agencies.

“The time for division is over. What we need now is collaboration and a commitment to the greater good of Nigeria,” he added.

Reaffirming support for President Tinubu’s administration, Tukur said the NYF remained committed to promoting cooperation and transparency in the collective effort to build a safer and more prosperous country.

“We urge all stakeholders to foster a culture of cooperation and transparency that prioritises the security and well-being of our citizens,” he said.
