NYSC DG urges members to embrace entrepreneurship

The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has called on  skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programme during their orientation exercise to empower themselves and become job creators.

He made the call while speaking with newsmen at the opening ceremony of the NYSC Freedom of Information Desk Officers’ Workshop in Abuja yesterday.

He said there was scarcity of jobs in the country, hence they should learn skills that would make them earn money without waiting for the government to provide jobs.

On the need to comply with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), he charged the officers to always ensure that they keep effective records, liaison as well as prompt responses to enquiries in their respective states.

Brigadier-General Ibrahim said the aim of the workshop was to consolidate on the successes of the scheme regarding the Act as well as update their knowledge of the Act.

The Director, Press and Public Relations Department, Mrs. Adenike Adeyemi, said the scheme had since keyed into the policy by appointing desk officers who coordinate the policy both at the headquarters and the 36 states of the federation.
