The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is holding a pre-mobilization workshop in Sokoto state aimed at reviewing the strength and weaknesses associated with the process.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the workshop, the Director General of the scheme, Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure said the forum provides the opportunity for strengthening inter-agency collaborations towards achieving the greater efficiency and success of the mobilisation process.
According to Kazaure, the pre-mobilization workshop remained the foundation for the success of the mobilization exercise, as it would afford stakeholders the regular opportunity to appraise previous exercises and fashion out ways of improving them.
According to him, the theme of the workshop "Enhancing Data Integrity in the NYSC Mobilization Process" was deliberately selected to mirror the desire for continous improvement in the quality of data, especially through application of ICT solutions.
He noted that the use of information and communication technology has given credence to the mobilisation process and ensured seamless and smooth upload of eligible graduates’ data.
"Our belief on the quality of data to guarantee effective mobilisation process informed not only the theme of the workshop but also ensure that data uploaded in the system is not compromised,"he said.
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who declared it opened urged the NYSC management to embark on regular review of the ICT to tackle emerging issues, especially cyber security.
He said that the maintenance of accuracy of data was key and germane to policy formulation and effective planing of the scheme.
The Governor insisted that upgrade of the information and communication technology of the scheme has become necessary, taking into consideration the ever increasing number of corps-producing institutions with its resultant effects of rising corps populations in the country.
Tambuwal, who was represented by the state Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development, Garba Yakubu Tsetse, stated that the scheme has continued to play pivotal role in the sustenance of national unity, integration and socioeconomic development.
