A Kwara-born member of the National Youth Service Corps, Ishola Oluwafemi Isaac, has donated 50 desks and educational materials to students of JSS Labbo Dogon Daji in Sokoto State as part of efforts to improve learning conditions in the school.
The corps member, who hails from Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State and bears the state code SO/25A/1562, also distributed school bags, biros, pencils, erasers and other learning items to students during the presentation ceremony.
The intervention was executed under the Community Development Service project of the NYSC, aimed at addressing challenges within host communities.
Speaking during the commissioning of the project, the Sokoto State Coordinator of the NYSC, Tyoyer Gabriel Ter, described the initiative as impactful and beneficial to the students.
He said the donation would help create a better learning environment and ease some of the difficulties confronting the school.
The coordinator commended the corps member for successfully identifying a critical need within the community and responding through a practical intervention.
He also urged the students and school authorities to ensure proper use and maintenance of the items provided.
Isaac said his decision to embark on the project was driven by his passion for education and community development.
“Having identified the challenges facing the school, I decided to provide desks and writing materials to the students as my contribution to the good people of Sokoto State,” he said.
The corps member added that he was encouraged by the desire to leave a meaningful impact in his place of primary assignment.
He appreciated individuals and supporters who contributed to the success of the project.
Aside from the donation, Isaac had earlier organised a career talk for students of Sultan Abubakar College as part of activities aimed at supporting educational growth in the state.
Management of JSS Labbo Dogon Daji described the donation as timely and commendable, assuring that the materials would be properly utilised for the benefit of the students.
