Bozimo spoke in Calabar yesterday during the Annual Management Conference of the NYSC with the theme: “Evolving dynamic operational strategies to tackle present challenges in the NYSC”.
In addition to the skills acquisition training, he also announced that the board of the NYSC was looking into the Corps Insurance Scheme with a view to making it more sensitive and responsive in the delivery of services to the corp members.
Stressing on mentoring, Director General of NYSC, Brigadier-General Johnson Bamidele Olawumi said the focus of the conference was to brainstorm with practical ideas to enable it effectively perform its role of mentoring the youths.
“We must properly mentor our Corp members for national assignment and also set them on the path of self-reliance and equipping them for future leadership roles they are expected to play”, he said.
However, Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State who was represented by his deputy, Mr Efiok Cobham stressed the need for NYSC to adopt new strategies that will reflect today’s realities for sake of cohesion and proper integration of Corp members at their states of primary assignments.
