The Factory Manager, National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) Garment Factory, Mgbaku in Anambra State, Mr Joshua Onifade, said within one year, the factory earned N10 million and remitted the same to the federal government’s coffers from producing NYSC kits.

In a statement signed by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, the manager said it was due to the improvement of the factory. 

Onifade also said about 30 corps members were engaged in sewing and to ensure more are taken, a skills acquisition centre was established in the facility.

While conducting the Director-General, Brigadier General, Shuaibu Ibrahim, round the factory during a visit to the facility, Onifade said measures were taken by the management towards optimising its operations, including the provision of 36 new industrial sewing machines.  

He said that the factory had refurbished 10 old industrial sewing machines, thereby increasing the number of functional ones to 46.

According to him, the host community also benefits as not less than fifty women are engaged for botton tackling.

In his remarks, the Director-General, expressing satisfaction with the progress made in the factory, urged the manager and the rest of the workforce to sustain their level of commitment. 

Ibrahim said the NYSC would continue to support the growth of the factory in line with the policy of reinvigoration of the NYSC Ventures.
