NYSC sports festival discovers 2 talented athletes

The minister, who was represented on the occasion by the Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Mr Patrick Ekeji, made the fact known in Abuja on Friday at the grand-finale of the NYSC 2011 Sports Festival.

He said the two talents were in athletics and gave an assurance that they would be taken for training.

According to him, the festival has brought about national cohesion among corps members and the objective of the scheme met.

The minister said the commission would continue to support the NYSCto promote sports among corps members.

He said the festival was meant for the discovery of talents and commended the

Director-General of NYSC, Brig-Gen Nnamdi Okore-Affia, for bringing the corps members together.

The minister, however, urged the scheme to continue to promote national unity and commended the gallantry of the winners and losers for displaying the spirit of sportsmanship.

Meanwhile, the Supper Eagles Head Coach,Stephen Keshi, has invited Stephen Murah, an NYSC member serving in Anambra, to the Super Eagles Camp for being the most valuable player in the football competition.

Keshi,who watched the football match, said he was impressed with the performance of the corps member and promised that his talent was not wasted.
