NYSC urges corps members to acquire skills

Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Anambra State, Yetunde Baderinwa, has advised corps members in the state to acquire more skills and develop their entrepreneurship instincts while they serve in the State.

She gave the advice during the inter-platoon Skills Acquisition & Entrepreneurship Department (SAED) competition and exhibition at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Unity NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu in Awka South.

Yetunde noted that the reality of unemployment in Nigeria has made it pertinent for corps members and other individuals to acquire skills that would prevent overdependence on regular jobs.

She said if the corps members learn more skills after their service years, they can empower themselves and others economically.

The coordinator also encouraged them to take advantage of various sources of funding that have been put in place by the federal government for corps entrepreneurs, at little or no interest rate for those who would wish to have access to them.
