It is a betrayal of Obama’s ancestral Mau-Mau revolution in Kenya; and the 27 years Nelson Mandela suffered in prison. The ‘’Promised Land’’ that Reverend Martin Luther King Jr glimpsed has remained bitter for him when resolutely waved on a banner by Mugabe. Vast crowds that throng airports in Namibia, Botswana and South Africa when Mugabe flies send messages for Obama’s diplomacy to honour.
Euro-America’s humiliation of President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya fails to see that unequal growth between Obama’s ancestral Luo-land and Kikuyu-land is rooted on gods giving rich volcanic lava around Mount Kenya to Kikuyu-land. Infertile sandy soils went to Luo-land. It must be cured by huge investment in brain-intensive industrialisation. Former President Mwai Kibaki longevity in government from 1964 to 2013 had enabled him see through lies and arrogant exploitation of Kenya by NATO countries. He declared a ‘’Turning to the East’’; opening contracts to a Chinese surge. Kenyatta was part of Kibaki’s economic diplomacy team. They planned a novel railway, road and pipeline to link Southern Sudan’s oilfields and Kenya’s port on the Indian Ocean at Lamu. They despised World Bank officials with post-graduate degrees for exploiting Africa.
President Obama inherited a blood-drenched legacy of America’s Idi Amin; and a Bush – Yoweri Museveni bartering of the blood of Uganda’s soldiers combating Al-Qaeda in Somalia. Museveni, as a ‘’real-politick’’ chess player, desired longevity in power against NATO’s opportunistic gales of democracy. Obama owes a vast Great Lakes Region and South Sudan a reparational developmental ‘’Obama Plan for the Reconstruction of post-Idi Amin Uganda; post-Mobutu Congo, and post-genocidal civil war in Sudan’’. Harassing Museveni over the primacy of rights of homosexuals in the face of genocide against children across s a vast D.R. Congo, northern Uganda and South Sudan, is simply Draculian.
In South Sudan, Obama finds himself arming an ethnic opposition which promises genocide against the majority Dinka national group. Museveni’s rapidly deployed troops prevented a rapid seizure of Juba, the seat of Salva Kiir’s government. He was obviously aware that Riek Machar had once had close dialogue with Joseph Kony – his mortal enemy leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army. Obama must farm human dignity in these tortured lands. China’s fingers dipped into the oil wells in these lands should not sprout a diplomatic trachoma in a grandson.
American support kept Mobutu in power. For a man whose soldiers paid themselves by robbing food items from women going to or returning from village markets’; encouraged provincial and district officials to ‘’eat’’ funds sent from the national treasury for local development. President Obama should send to the ICC those executives of 95 multinational corporations that a United Nations Committee fingered as financiers of murderous militias looting raw minerals, wood and coffee for them outside taxation by the central government.
President Joseph Kabila’s award of contracts to Chinese companies for roads and railway lines sent Obama’s Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to warn against ‘’new colonialists’’, much to the amusement of Congolese officials and peoples. John Carey has loudly warned Kabila not to stand for re-election despite his commitment to the re-construction of a desperate country. Obama must support the industrialisation of Congo and its neighbours.
After demonstrations drove out Blaise Compaore, there is a temptation to foment chaos in D.R. Congo against Kabila, and in Uganda against Museveni. Obama may repeat his call against the ‘’special individual’’ in Africa. He ignores Mwalimu Nyerere, Meles Zenawe and Nelson Mandela. Americans elected Obama as a ‘’special individual’’ to free them from institutions of American corruption.
Obama can’t offer Africa a development diplomacy of shedding African blood as a wall to keep away from Africa China’s one billion footprints.
