The Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has charged the Edo  State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Surveyors (NIS) to adhere strictly to professional ethics in the discharge of its duties.

Obaseki said this when members of the institute led by its state Chairman, Mr Anthony Ekhator visited him over the weekend  at government house Benin.

The governor expressed dismay over granting of illegal authorisation by surveyors to erect structures in inappropriate locations.  He said it must ensure that it keeps to maximum standards.   

It is the collective responsibility of both the government and the citizens of the state to build a befitting state for all, he said.

He said his administration was ready to re-direct things in the state and was currently mapping out landmarks to produce a state master plan.

Earlier,  the chairman of the institution, Mr. Anthony Ekhator said the visit was to seek collaboration with the government in restoring the land, river and air assets of the state.

He advised the governor on the creation of satellites towns and estates to help decongest the city centre.
