The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has commissioned a 12.1km streetlight project, connect Ogbe community and Ring Road-axis in Oredo LGA to 95MW Ossiomo power plant, as part of light-up Edo programme.
Commissioning the project, Obaseki said the Ossiomo Independent Power Project (IPP) can now supply steady and uninterrupted electricity to the community, adding that the initiative would boost socio-economic activities in the area.
According to him, the state government has provided stable electricity supply to the commercial area to boost the growth of businesses and improve livelihoods.
“After the trading hours, when the traders have closed, this electricity will enable the street sweepers to work easily as they clean the area,” he added.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary, Edo State Ministry of Electricity, Engr Victor Obanor, said the project is multi-faceted and will benefit the people and improve the economy of the area.
