The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has hailed Bendel Insurance on their away victory against ASO Chlef of Algeria in the return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup.
After a slim 1-0 win at home, Insurance edged out Aso Chelf 4-3 on penalties after the regulation time ended 1-0 in favour of the host for a 1-1 aggregate.
With the victory, Insurance advancedy to the second Round of the second tier inter-club competition.
Obaseki in a statement, said “the team has continued to give an excellent account of themselves, showcasing their exceptional talent and making us all proud with their outstanding performance.

“As they progress to the next stage, I charge them to continue with their impressive run as they continue to place Edo on the continental map.”
On his part, the state deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, described victory as the result of the good investment of the state in the team in the last seven years.
In the same vein, the Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, has congratulated Insurance for scaling the first qualifying hurdle, describing their win as another confirmation of the resurgence of the domestic league.
“The victory is a confirmation that we are getting our league on a good pedestal to reclaim our place in the top echelon of African club football and we are determined to go higher”, Elegbeleye told NPLF Media.
