A select group of Nigeria’s most accomplished professionals, including Prof. Samuel Sunday Obeka, Vice-Chancellor of Wesley University Nigeria, Blossom Ogechi Ozurumba, a global leader in digital media engagement, and Comrade Buba Nehemiah Gbajunne, National President of the National Union of Postal and Telecommunications Employees (NUPTE), were yesterday inducted as Fellows of the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC), at a prestigious ceremony held in Abuja, Nigeria.

Alongside this coveted honour, they received the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation from the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI), the highest global qualification for management consultants, recognized in over 50 countries.

The Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) Nigeria, established in 1983 with federal recognition, awards the FIMC to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in fields such as management consulting, technology, economics, and business administration. The selection process is rigorous, requiring nomination by two existing fellows, exhaustive peer review, and fulfillment of at least five of 19 stringent criteria.

These include international awards, transformative innovations, leadership in major initiatives, and contributions to knowledge through mentorship or high-impact publications amongst others. The CMC designation, upheld through continuous professional development, marks recipients as elite consultants committed to ethical excellence.

Prof. Samuel Sunday Obeka, a Bishop and academic leader, hailed the investiture as a landmark event. “This is a memorable day. As Vice-Chancellor of a prestigious faith-based institution, I am thrilled with the exemplary leadership of the Director-General and his team. The scholarly paper presentations, interactive sessions, and panel discussions were revealing and apt. This training and award will enhance my administrative style. My prayer is that God continues to sustain this great work,” he said.

Blossom Ozurumba, with over 18 years of pioneering leadership, has redefined digital communication in Nigeria’s energy and public sectors with her work in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and Nigeria’s National Oil Company, NNPC Limited, achieving over 75% surge in social media engagement for large-scale initiatives across relevant metrics and earning the DIGITALCONFEX Top 25 Social Media Engagement Champion award in Dubai in 2024. Her strategic vision has empowered thousands through mentorship and forged global partnerships. “The FIMC and CMC honours reflect the vital role of innovative consulting in addressing global challenges especially in the area of digital media innovation. They spur me to deepen my commitment to leadership, mentorship, and sustainable progress worldwide,” Ozurumba said, underscoring the fellowship’s profound significance.

Comrade Buba Nehemiah Gbajunne, a dedicated union leader, expressed his pride. “I am excited and fulfilled to acquire this prestigious certificate. Practising as a Certified Fellow globally calls for greater seriousness to stay updated in consultancy, making the Institute proud of inducting me,” he said, pledging to uphold IMC’s high standards.

The ceremony, attended by Nigeria’s business, academic, and policy elite, featured thought-provoking presentations and panel discussions, cementing IMC Nigeria’s reputation as a beacon of professional excellence. With only two African bodies admitted into the ICMCI, the FIMC and CMC designations elevate Nigeria’s standing in global consulting. The fellowship, limited to 10% of IMC’s membership annually, ensures exclusivity, celebrating leaders who drive international collaboration and sustainable progress.

Fellows enjoy unique privileges, including priority representation at global conferences, government advisory panels, and visibility through IMC’s media channels.

The investiture highlighted Nigeria’s growing influence in management consulting, with recipients poised to shape the future of Africa’s digital, energy, and economic landscapes.
