Three Nigerians, Chigozie Obioma, Nnedi Okorafor and Yewande Omotoso are among the first group of international and local authors for the 2016 Open Book Festival in South Africa.
Twenty authors have been slated to attend the event, taking place from September 7 to 11, this year at Cape Town. The festival director, Mervyn Sloman said “We have confirmed participants joining us from Botswana, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Ghana, Holland, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Reunion, United Kingdom and USA.
“As always we look forward to an outstanding collection of powerful South African writers talking about their work on the international stage that Open Book provides.
This year’s event, the sixth, will comprise more than 100 events, at the Fugard Theatre, the District Six Homecoming Centre and The Book Lounge.
In 2015 Nigerian Okey Ndibe was invited alongside other authors, both local and international.
