The founder of Kingsley Obiukwu Foundation, Kingsley Obiukwu, has unveiled plans by the organisation to begin two major projects – Free Adult Education and food security – for the people of Anambra State.
He said the Foundation, in line with its commitment to education and student empowerment, has developed the free adult education in Mathematics and English” project.
“This initiative aims to provide accessible and impactful educational opportunities for individuals aged 25 and above in Nnewi South LGA, Anambra State.
“Recognizing that charity begins at home, the project will initially focus on empowering residents of Nnewi South before expanding to other areas,” he said.
Obiukwu said the objectives of the initiative among others is to increase basic literacy and numeracy skills, equip participants with the fundamental skills in Mathematics and English needed for daily life, work, and further education, boost employability and economic opportunities and enhance participants’ job prospects and earning potential by improving their communication and quantitative abilities.
He added that the project would promote personal and community development and foster a sense of empowerment and self-confidence among participants, leading to positive individual and community outcomes.
For the food security project, Obiukwu said it would alleviate food insecurity for 30,000 individuals (10,000 per year) across Nnewi’s three Local Government Areas (LGAs) over a three-year.
“The initiative will begin with a pilot project in Nnewi South LGA, running from March 2024 to December 2024. This pilot project will serve as a crucial learning experience to inform the broader program rollout across all three LGAs.
