OBJ, Buhari, Amaechi, shun Council of State meeting (UPDATED)

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Head of State General Muhammadu Buhari as well as Governors Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers) were conspicuously absent at the Council of State meeting conveyed by President Goodluck Jonathan today.

 

The meeting, being held inside the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa Abuja, started at 10.50am when Jonathan stepped in. In attendance are former Head of States Yakubu Gowon, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, Abdulsalam Abubakar and former Head of the National Interim Government Earnest Shonekan, Jigawa and Ekiti State Governors Sule Lamido and Kayode Fayemi did the opening prayers.

 

Others are Senate President David Mark, House of Representatives Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. The governors in attendance are Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) and those of Kaduna, Ebonyi, Cross River, Imo, Sokoto, Gombe, Cross River, Niger, Jigawa, Ekiti, Kaduna, Taraba, Jigawa, Ogun, Niger, Akwa Ibom, Ondo, Nasarawa, among others.

Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole, Former President Shehu Shagari, Kogi state governor, Idris Wada, Benue state governor Gabriel Suswam and Delta state governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, later joined the meeting

 

Although Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was absent at the meeting, his deputy was present.
