An 81-year-old businessman and the Manager of Digare Bureau de Change (BDC) will today appear before a Katsina State magistrate’s court for allegedly being in possession of 34 pieces of 100 US dollars suspected to be counterfeit.
The suspects, Abdurrahman Amadu and Usman Yahaya, alias Dangaske, were arrested and would be charged with criminal conspiracy and being in possession of currency suspected to be fake.
Already, the duo, according to the Police First Information Report deposited at the court, showed that the accused have confessed to the crime.
The report said, on September 10, 2017 at about 4:30pm, one Alhaji Abdu Abdulkadir and Adamu Amdau all of Dayi village in Malumfashi LGA jointly reported at Malumfashi police station that on the same date at about 1:15pm one Abdurahman Amadu, 81 years of Tora village met and informed them that he saw their stolen cows somewhere in Kaduna State and demanded some money from them.
The said Abdurrahman was traced and arrested and that during the body search, inside his pockets, 34 pieces of US 100 dollars suspected to be counterfeit were recovered in his possession.
Upon investigation, he confessed to have been given 41 pieces of the US dollars by one Usman Yahaya alias Dangaske, the manager of Digare Bureau de Change, Katsina, the report stated.
It added that the said Usman Yahaya also confessed to the crime.
