Following the impressive performance of the Golden Eaglets at the recently concluded 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, the former chief coach of the team, Mr. John Sam Obuh was elevated to the national U-20 just as one of his assistants Odigie was made chief coach of the U-17 team.

Speaking to Trustsports yesterday, the Bayelsa United coach said he had heard of his appointment over the new and on the pages of newspapers so it was not right for him to begin to speak on his plans for the team.

He said on Monday, he will be at the NFF secretariat to receive briefing from the authorities and it is only then that he would be in a better position to comment on his latest appointment.

Thank you for congratulating me but for now, I have decided not to speak much on the appointment. I have not been contacted formally. On Monday( tomorrow) I will be at the glasshouse to receive further briefing. It is only then that I will be in position to speak” he stated.

Odigie who was Coach Samson Siasia’s assistant during the 2008 Beijing Olympics said once he is through with the NFF secretariat, he would submit his programme and if approved, he would begin preparations for Mexico 2011 without delay.

The coach expressed happiness with the decision of NFF to promote him saying he has been motivated to put in his best for the country.

“I feel elated with what has happened. This is a tonic which will not doubt motivate me to do more for this country”
