Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has restated his administration’s commitment to fully harnessing the economic and industrial opportunities presented by the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project.

Ododo gave the assurance at the AKK Business Development Roadshow held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Lokoja. The event, themed “Accelerating Domestic Gas Utilisation and Driving the CNG Revolution along the AKK Corridor,” brought together government officials, industry players, and private-sector investors.

Describing Kogi as a state strategically positioned for growth, Ododo said the AKK project aligns with his administration’s development vision.

“Kogi State is a confluence of pipelines, prosperity, and opportunities,” he said. “Our people have entrusted us with a mandate that must work for them, and I am delighted that this milestone is unfolding during our tenure. We will continue to consult widely to ensure progress and shared happiness across the state.”

The governor said the roadshow marked “a defining moment” in Kogi’s push for economic expansion, industrialisation, and sustainable development.

“We are united by a shared purpose—to unlock the immense potential of the AKK Gas Pipeline and explore the vast opportunities it presents for investment, innovation, and industrial growth in Kogi State and across Nigeria,” he added.

Executive Vice President, PI CNG, Olalekan Ogunleye, commended the increased engagement from private-sector players as the project nears completion.

“The private sector is responding, and it is important that at this advanced stage of the AKK pipeline project, we come together to share experiences and hear directly from investors,” Ogunleye said.

He noted that Kogi State is strategically positioned to benefit from the project.

“It would not be a major national pipeline project without the Nigerian gas pipeline terminating in Ajaokuta,” he added.

The $2.8 billion AKK pipeline is currently at 83.05 percent completion, based on July 2025 data. When fully operational, it is expected to deliver up to 2.2 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day, supplying energy to support industrial development and electricity generation in Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano.
