The Odu’a Investment Company Limited (OICL) at the weekend marked its 45th anniversary as it unveiled its latest subsidiaries.
The firm which was incorporated in July, 1976 to take over the business interest of the former Western State of Nigeria, now Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti States, started operations on October 1, 1976.
The new subsidiaries are South West Agricultural Company (SWAgCO), South West Innovation and Technology (SWIT) and BITA, a marginal oil field arm.
At the anniversary celebration in Lagos, the Group Managing Director/CEO, Adewale Raji said: “We are imbued with a vision to be a World Class Conglomerate and driven by a collective mission and strategy to enhance this legacy for future generations.”
The Group Chairman of OICL, Dr. Segun Aina, said the company has been transformed to lead in the next four years. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, urged other governors in the region to invest in the firm.
Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his deputy, Dr. Kadri Hamzat, stressed that it was essential for the survival and revitalisation of the region.
He said 45% of tomatoes produced locally are wasted due to poor storage and processing facilities, and that the government can invest in them.
