Before July 2013, some of us have been opposing the idea of Atiku contesting for the presidential post again. We had concluded that he will not be able to make any reasonable impact in the future elections. To add to our doubt, the insecurity being experienced in the northern Nigeria where the former president comes from has almost completely divided the citizens of the nation along religious line, which may also affect his votes.
A month or two ago, before the emergence of the New PDP, I went to God in prayers asking Him to reveal to me the person who is going to be the next president of Nigeria so that I will know as well as support the will of God. While meditating, I came to understand that God did not allow Atiku to win election in the first attempt because he was not humble. What is left for Atiku is to sincerely forgive all those who have offended him in the course of his political struggles and also seek for forgiveness from those he has also offended, so that when God makes him the President of Nigeria, he will have more supporters than enemies. This will culminate into a smooth and peaceful regime that will bring lasting development to the country.
It is obvious that a lot of Nigerians are in distress and are desperately looking for the way out of their myriad problems that is why Atiku is gaining more popularity than ever before. Giving the foregoing scenario, it should not be surprising that people are erecting and pasting Atiku’s campaign posters and billboards in Abuja and in various parts of the country. Mr.  Atiku cannot stop people from expressing their opinion about him. The more 2015 draws nearer the more pressure he will receive from Nigerians and the more tolerant he has to be against his political rivals.
 It is advisable for Atiku to imbibe the attitude of being swift to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger. As a Presidential hopeful, he has to be very careful in the selection of his words especially when he is responding to those opposing him. He should concentrate more on mending fences with his political enemies rather attacking them back. Our prayer is that the will of God be done in Nigeria.
