Office assistant remanded for breach of trust, cheating

An office assistant, one Deborah Augustine has been remanded in prison custody by a Kano Senior Magistrate court 47 over alleged breach of trust and cheating.

The Prosecution Officer, Sanusi Muhammad told the court that one Mr Kwaghue Philips reported the matter to the police on the 9th February 2018.

Muhammad said, “The complainant sent Deborah Augustine with the sum of N479, 000 belonging to a company she was working with to deposit it at Zenith Bank, along Maiduguri road by Hotoro, Kano. But she later came back and told him that the money was missing and she could not explain how it got missing.”

The accused pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating contrary to Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code Law.

The presiding Judge, Senior Magistrate Huda H. Abdu ordered for the remand of the accused person in prison custody and adjourned the case till February 20, 2018.
