The recent inauguration of the newly elected Management Committee of the Nigerian Polo Federation (NPF), headed by President Francis Ogboro, has sparked renewed optimism and high expectations across the Nigerian polo community which held at Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.
President Ogboro, who has led the NPF for over a decade, was unanimously re-elected during the Federation’s Biennial Conference last December in Jos, Plateau State.
In his remarks, Ogboro pledged to intensify efforts in promoting Nigerian polo both across Africa and on the global stage.
“I am truly humbled by this extraordinary expression of confidence in me as the President of this noble family. And the first thing I say to the Nigerian polo family in accepting their mandate to lead the NPF yet again, is to rededicate myself and all of my colleagues in the Executive Committee to the service of polo,” Ogboro declared in his highly applauded acceptance speech.
Several newly elected members of the Management Committee were sworn into office during the Abuja ceremony. They include Tanko Ayuba as 1st Vice President, Abdulkarim Jibril as 2nd Vice President, and Jos Polo Club President Murtala Laushi as Secretary. Others inaugurated were Haruna Ningi (Assistant Secretary), Usman Sa’ad (Treasurer), Ahmed Salisu (Assistant Treasurer), and Barrister Sambo Shehu (Legal Adviser). Hassan Gashash and Mohammed Baba complete the new executive team that will oversee the affairs of the polo governing body through 2027.
Secretary of Jos Polo Club, Hassan Gashash, and Captain of Yola Polo Club, who serve as Ex-officio members of the NPF Management Committee, reaffirmed the group’s commitment to revitalizing the sport. They pledged to support NPF President Ogboro, a widely respected figure in global polo administration, in repositioning the game of kings for greater success.
