Coach Evans Ogenyi

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Kano Pillars, have officially announced the return of Evans Ogenyi as their new Technical Adviser.

Ogenyi replaces Usman Abdallah, who stepped down from the role in May due to personal reasons. The seasoned tactician returns to familiar ground, having led Kano Pillars to NPFL promotion in 2023.

“We are pleased to announce that Kano Pillars FC has reached an agreement to appoint Mr. Ogenyi Evans as our new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2025/2026 football season. He will assume duties with immediate effect. Details of his contract will be communicated in due course,” the club said in a tweet.

Ogenyi was most recently an assistant coach at former NPFL champions, Rivers United, a position he left last month following the expiration of his contract.

In addition to his previous roles with Kano Pillars and Rivers United, Ogenyi has also managed other top Nigerian clubs, including Warri Wolves and Lobi Stars, further solidifying his reputation in domestic football.
Kano Pillars will be hoping that Ogenyi can replicate the success of his previous stint and guide the team toward its goals in the 2025/26 NPFL season.
Meanwhile, fellow Kano-based side, Barau FC, have also announced a new managerial appointment, confirming that Ladan Bosso will take over as Technical Adviser.
Bosso has spent the past two seasons in charge of Bayelsa United. His new club, Barau FC, recently earned promotion to the NPFL and are set to make their debut in the top flight during the 2025/26 season.
“Barau FC has announced that it has reached an agreement to appoint Coach Ladan Bosso as the club’s new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2025/2026 football season. Details of his contract and official unveiling will be communicated in due course,” the club stated in a tweet.
Bosso brings a wealth of experience to the newly promoted side, having previously managed NPFL teams such as Kano Pillars, Wikki Tourists, Abia Warriors, and El-Kanemi Warriors.
He also holds the record of the longest serving coach of the national U-20 men’s team, the Flying Eagles.
Bosso’s last spell with the team came to an end after the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Championship where Nigeria finished the tournament at the quarter-finals stage.
