The Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, says with the creation of the Bondsmen Licencing Board, professional sureties/bondsmen would henceforth be appearing before judges and magistrates across the state.
She said the introduction of bondsmen regulations and practice directions was aimed at discouraging touting by unlicensed persons, who stood surety for those on bail bond, from absconding.

Justice Dipeolu said this while speaking at a prayer session organised for the state’s judiciary staff to usher them into the year 2021, held at the Judiciary Headquarters, along Kobape, Abeokuta road.
According to her, the bondsmen scheme and licensing board would also make bail of suspects on trial in courts more accessible, faster and timely.
Justice Dipeolu also reeled out her administration’s achievements for the year 2020 which includes the creation of Bondmen Licencing Board, purchase of vehicles for magistrates, creation of more magisterial districts, promotion of staff, appointments of chief magistrates, senior magistrates and magistrates.
Other achievements, according to the chief judge are; renovation of courts, induction course for magistrates, training of magistrates, judicial research officers and members of staff.
