Ogun community protest two years blackout

Residents of Ijeja stadium community in Abeokuta-South Local Government Area of Ogun State on Wednesday protested against two years of power outage.

The protesters numbering over 500 traced their plight to a fake 300kva(11,000v) transformer supplied  and installed for the community, which they described as a Greek gift.

Protesting in front of the erected fake transformer, the residents were seen with placards of various captions, which include; “Blackout in Ijeja stadium community for two years”  “Mr Governor please come to our rescue”

The protesters further lamented that, inspite of being  neighbours of Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, the community still lack the opportunity of enjoying stable electricity supply.

Speaking with journalists, the community chairman in charge of electricity maintenance, Emmanuel Evbuomwan said they(residents) could not bear the suffering again, hence, their resolved to embark on the protest.

Evbuomwan who disclosed that, the community has over 50,000 residents,  recalled that series of letters had been written to all relevant authorities within and outside the state without favorable respond till date.

“The has been without light since March last year 2016. We have written several letters to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, the Senator and House of Representatives members representing this constituency and Ibadan
