Director-General of the bureau, Mr Adewale Oshinowo disclosed last week in Abeokuta that the state has successfully acquired Very High Resolution Satellite Imagery which has been installed on high development areas of the state.
Oshinowo said equipment like 3D Stereo and 50 Cm Imagery have been installed along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Lagos-Ogun border areas, Abeokuta, Ifo, Ijebu Ode and Ilaro, Ilaro-Ofada road, Ode-Omi and Sagamu, saying it will allow surveyors, government agencies and the general public have access to data through Radio Satellites, Direct Global Positioning System (DGPS) and the internet.
A statement signed by the press officer of the bureau, Toluwalope Kowo quoted the DG as saying this will produce high accuracy maps and Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation projects adding that the development of the CORS network is proceeding and will be commissioned by the end of November this year.
The DG said the CORS project stations are already built in Abeokuta, Agbara and Ijebu Ode while the four other stations will be deployed during phase two so as to ensure 100 percent coverage of the entire state.
“The Ogun CORS System will be the first and only real-time network of Continuously Operating Reference Stations in Nigeria and will supply centimeter-level RTK Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), for a variety of positioning applications which included geodetic and cadastral surveying; roads, bridges and infrastructural projects, monitoring for natural disaster, prevention and mitigation; tectonic plate movement, deformation of engineering structures analysis.

“Others are oceanographic and meteorological studies as well as high-accuracy positioning applications like precise navigation and vehicle tracking; emergency services and automated GPS guidance application for civil aviation authorities,” he explained.
The DG expressed optimism that with the aforementioned, land management administration and titling in Ogun State will become easy within the shortest possible time.
