The Ogun State Government has increased its monthly distribution of Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) from 1,000 to 2,000.

This, according to the state Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, is meant to fast-track the process of ensuring that greater number of qualified applicants under the Homeowner Charter Programme gets their CofO and other title documents.

Speaking in Abeokuta during the 24th edition of the distribution of CofO and building plan approval to beneficiaries, Amosun who was represented by the Chairman, Ogun State Internal Revenue Services, Adekunle Adeosun, said the increase in the number of land title documents to be presented monthly would help to cover a large number of applicants who actually met the criteria under the scheme, but are yet to get their papers.

“Our government has done more than expected under the scheme since 2013. So far, there has been consistency in the distribution of C of O in the state and the number has now moved up from 1,000 to 2,000 monthly, in order to cover large number before this administration hands over to the next one’’, he said.

The Special Adviser and Director-General, Bureau of Lands and Survey, Biyi Ismail, however, appealed to members of the public to get clearance from the Bureau of Lands and building plan approval from Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning, before erecting any structure on their lands.
