The Ogun State government has issued over 7,694 Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) under the Homeowners’ Charter Programme to property owners across the state between January and June 2019.

The Director, Central Department of Statistics, Ogun State Ministry of Finance, David Alao, disclosed this while playing host to members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation.

Alao added that since the commencement of the Homeowner Charter Programme in 2014, over 31, 728 title documents had been issued to qualified property owners in the state without the statutory fines or penalties.

He explained that the ministry had centralized the activities of haulage toll collectors and ensured effective monitoring of the state’s overall revenue activities.

Alao disclosed that part of the ministry’s plan was to engage independent toll managers, who would also monitor revenue collections in the various toll points and provide a feedback mechanism for the government.

In his presentation, the state’s Accountant-General, Michael Idowu, stated that all salaries and allowances, including pensions of all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) had been processed and paid as and when due, while all revenues and expenditures of MDAs had also been fully reconciled.

The Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Olakunle Sobukanla, tasked the ministry to do more on blocking revenue leakages, saying all forms of non-remittance of revenue accrued to government by tolls agents must be checked.
