Ogun State Government says it has initiated plans to renovate and build new sporting facilities in Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta and Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.
The State Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde who disclosed this said the move was part of the government’s determination to reposition and develop young talents in sports.
Kehinde while conducting the Management Staff of Aron Construction Company who were on an on-the-spot assessment of the two facilities recently, expressed optimism that the reconstruction would boost sports in the state and attract international sporting events.
The renovation, he said would involve reconstruction of training pitches for footballers, Olympic standard swimming pools, multi-purpose halls for indoor events, and coverage of the main bowl of the two Stadia.
The Commissioner noted that the development would also increase youth participation in sporting activities, as well as reduce social vices.
The Managing Director, Aron Construction Company, Engr. Adeola Adenuga appreciated the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his foresight and immense passion for sporting activities in the state.
