OGUN: Police officer dies in road crash

A police inspector Azeez Ajasa serving under the MOPOL 16 Unit in Ibara, Abeokuta, died yesterday in a road crash along the Abeokuta-Sagamu road.

The accident which occurred around Adedero and Sowo villages along the busy road, shattered the May Day celebration mood among his colleagues.

It was gathered that the officer was traveling to Iperu preparatory to his promotional exam exercise expected to start today.

A source said his Golf 4 car somersaulted as he lost control and he ended up in the bush, from which good Samaritans and the Ogun State Traffic and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) Rescue squad brought out his remains.

TRACE spokesman, Babatunde Akinbiyi, hinted that the body had been deposited at the state general hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta.
