Ogun rehabilitates fed roads

To alleviate the problems faced by motorists and other road users plying Owode- Ijako, in Ifo Local Government Area of the state and Sagamu-Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area, Ogun State government has completed rehabilitation of the two federal roads.
Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Kayode Ademolake in a statement by the agency’s spokesman Mr. Ayokunle Ewuoso said the exercise was carried out on the governor’s directive.
He said, “You will realise that in the recent times there was heavy down pour and it was incessant in which the Lagos-Abeokuta old road was almost cut into two due to erosion.
“The same thing happened at Joju in Sango and we have the same thing happening between Sagamu-Ogijo expressway, so on the basis of this the governor said the roads should be rehabilitated and it was one of the major reasons we went there to fix the roads.
“The Lagos-Abeokuta old road was badly damaged before we moved in to safe the situation. About 500 metres of it was in passable. We stabilized it using various aggregate of hardcore and ever since then various grades of vehicles have been plying the roads.
“Same thing happened to Ogijo-Sagamu road about three locations were cut off by erosion and it was enormous.
“As I speak with you, over 100 loads of boulders and six inches of hardcore have been used to restore the road,” the permanent secretary stated.
Ademolake said government has equally completed desilting of the road side drains in order to allow free access of water adding that the refuse cleared from the drains has been evacuated.
