Oodu Trust checks revealed that for residents of areas such as Onikolobo, Adigbe, Ibara, Ake, Mokola, Obantoko and Lanfewa, the interrupted power supply during the birthday was noticed and described as unprecedented. It was a development that was, however, linked to the presence of the Speakers’ family, friends and well-wishers who stormed the town for the Speaker’s birthday party.
A resident of Onoikolobo, Alfa Abdullahi Ayinde told Oodu Trust that though the interrupted power supply had always been a regular feature anytime the Speaker was in town, “no doubt this weekend was again different, as power supply had been on in the last 24 hours, even when it was learnt that the Speaker was not in town. So, you will agree with me that the PHCN gesture was because of his birthday.”
Ayinde, a computer technologist, who is working also at Ibara area, at a cyber café affirmed that they had been served with regular supply to the pleasure of café users and other residents. “The noise of generators was observed to be absent in churches, morning services, while most residents capitalised on the gesture to engage in-door activities.
