The So-Safe Corps in Ogun State said it has arrested “a notorious robbery kingpin” and recovered four rifles.

 The Commander of the corps, Soji Ganzallo, said this in a statement that the suspect was arrested on Wednesday at about 10am.

 He explained that his officers on routine patrol apprehended the 32-year-old suspect, Obani Desmond, resident of 25, Agunbiade Street, Orija, Abule-Iroko, in Ado-Odo/Ota LGA.

The So-Safe boss explained that the man was nabbed while trying to burgle a building at 2, Ayo Ogunbanwo Street, in Abule-Iroko.

 He said the suspect “evaded arrest on several occasions, but nemesis caught up with him on July 12, even as he tried to hide again at the scene of a robbery.

 Ganzallo revealed that the suspect “speedily confessed” that he was in the building “to steal gold jewelry,” saying that was why he bore no arms as usual.

 He further said, “Without torture, he promised to show the team where he kept the arms he uses to perpetrate the crimes he is known for.”

 Ganzallo said before So-Safe operatives arrived at the place he kept his arms, “His wife, Mrs Simbi Temitope Desmond, had taken three out of the four arms (one local single and two double-barrel pistols) and kept them in a nearby room.”

 While noting that the suspect mentioned one Mr Jeje as the one in custody of the syndicate’s AK-47 rifle, Gonzallo said the suspect and exhibits recovered had been transferred to the Agbado Police Division.
