Organized labour leaders in the country on Wednesday, stormed Ogun state to give support to the public service workers’ strike.

The leaders are the National President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comr. Ayuba Waba, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) counterpart, Comr. Kagaima, Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), Kari Muhammad and the National President of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comr. Ibraheem Khaleed with other leaders across the state councils are in a make or mar meeting with the state governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun on the way out of the crisis.

The NLC president who addressed large crowd of the striking workers at the NLC house, Abeokuta few hours ago threatened to prompt the stoppage of the state federal allocation if the demands of the  workers are not met.

He said, the action, which had been carried out in some states of the country, would ensure the state government to accede to the request and demand of the workers. The labour leader said all facts before him indicated that the state government might not have been telling the government at the centre on the true position of the finances in the state.

As at time of filing this report, the leaders are at Oke Mosan, where they are meeting with the state government.

Hundreds of the striking workers have defied the scorching sun to wait for the outcome of the meeting. Detachment of armed policemen were seen around the NLC secretariat.
