Ogun vows to scale up electricity generation

The Ogun State Government has assured residents of a reliable and affordable regular power supply in the three senatorial districts in fulfilment of the present administration’s Light-Up project.

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Energy, Oluwafemi Omisanjo, made this known at the Lisabi Gas Plant, Onijanganjangan, in Abeokuta, during a visit to major power generation stations, disclosing that plans were underway for constitutional amendments on electricity generation, thereby creating the state-owned electricity to ensure reliable electricity within the next two years.

He further said, “We are working on our electricity policy and Electricity Law. This is the biggest pointer to why the government intends to power the whole area in the state. Presently, we are mapping out industrial clusters to see where off-grid electricity can be placed.”

Responding, the Lisabi Plant Manager, Mr Kolawole Ojo, guaranteed adequate power supply in the state when necessary measures were put in place as promised by the state government.
