Chief Solomon Ogundola has been installed as the new Lejoka of ijoka in Ilesa, Osun State by the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran.
The ancient town of Ilesa was agog at the weekend as the event was attended by prominent personalities in Osun including Osun State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola and other government functionaries in the
state.
Speaking on the occasion, the new Lejoka promised to use his vast experience both in public and private life to fast track development to Ijesaland and assist unemployed youth to get jobs to prevent them from vices.
Ogundola who was a former chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Alimosho Local Government in Lagos, said he was happy to return home and called on sons and daughters of ijesaland, both home and diaspora to come and contribute their quota to economic growth of their home town.
He also urged all Yoruba monarchs to continue to live in love for the growth and development of the Yoruba nation. He expressed the need for government to give priority to promotion of Yoruba culture and traditions.
In his remarks , Governor Aregbesola lauded the paramount ruler of Ijesaland Aromolaran for finding Ogundola worthy for the exalted position.
He noted that traditional institutions in the country remained a formidable force in the sustenance of the nation democracy.
“The traditional institution is an important element to enhance peaceful co-existence among the citizenry,” he said.
