A philanthropist and Chairman of Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Ltd, Akintoye Akindele, has gifted N5 million each and employment to the best three graduates of Caleb University in Ogun state.

Atlantic refinery is an indigenous oil company engaged primarily in the refining and trading of crude and petroleum products. 

In a statement by the spokesman of the university, Olawale Adekoya, Akindele also awarded scholarship offers to 22 new students. It was to redeem a promise he made at the 11th convocation ceremony of the university in February this year when he delivered the keynote address urging youths on academic excellence.

“Dr. Akindele presented a cheque of five million naira each, totaling fifteen million naira to the overall best who is female, the best male and the best postgraduate student,” Adekoya said in the statement.

“He also offered automatic employment to the three best graduating students and handed out a cheque to cover the school fees of 22 newly matriculated students during the presentation.”

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Nosa Owens Ibie, the Registrar, Mayokun Olumeru, and family members of the recipients lauded the philanthropist for the gesture. 

Prof Ibie described his various endowments as “ground breaking and game changing.”
