Oil workers under the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has   called for the resolving of   the lingering crisis over who heads  the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA),  following recent shake-up in the agency.
Acting General Secretary, Comrade Lumumba Okugbawa,said in a statement that the development was necessary in order to ensure a single and strong structure devoid of confusion in the agency.
Both Mr. Moses Mbaba and Mrs. Sotonye Iyoyo,who was believed to have been redeployed from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC) are currently at ‘war’ over who the real acting executive secretary of the agency is.
Some workers of the agency on Wednesday protested over the crisis, saying it  was wrong for the government to bring in ‘outsider’ to head the PPPRA.
But the labour union absolved itself from support of any of the parties in dispute, saying its interest is hinged on having a virile institution. .
“We have written a letter to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources seeking his intervention on a resolution to this and appealed that a clear pronouncement be made on who the acting Executive Secretary is or name a substantive Executive Secretary for PPPRA due to the sensitive nature of the agency’s functions and activities which are crucial to the socio-economy of Nigeria.”
