The second edition of the India Independence Day Golf Tournament concluded at Ikeja Golf Club over the weekend, with Babatunde Ojo emerging winner in the men’s category after carding 33 points. Goke Akinboro (33 points) and Mojeed Aberuaga (31 points) finished second and third, respectively.
In the ladies’ category, Lynda Obieze topped the leaderboard with 34 points, while Queen Ebosetale Okhuleigbe (32 points) and Afolashade Opuwunmi (30 points) secured second and third spots.
Other winners included Arun Sharma, who clinched the men’s Longest Drive title, with Ebosetale Okhuleigbe taking the women’s equivalent. Mike Laleye won Nearest to the Pin for men, while Chichi Alamu triumphed in the women’s contest.
At a dinner marking the close of the tournament, Ikeja Golf Club Captain, Rasheed Adebisi, praised the Indian community in Nigeria for hosting the event and reaffirmed the strong ties between both countries. He said: “India is 79 years old today. We will try to support their community because the relationship between India and Nigeria has come a long way.”
Meanwhile, a new eco-luxury community, Mowe Golf Town, is set to officially open its Experience Centre on Saturday, August 23, 2025, with an open house event tagged Mowe Golf Town Daycation.
Located opposite Christopher University in Mowe, Ogun State, the project is a collaboration between Legal City Homes & Properties and Gidi Real Estate Investment Limited. Built around a nine-hole waterfront golf course, the estate is positioned as a model for sustainable modern African living.
