A commercial motorcyclist, identified simply as Akpo, has been arrested by the police in Benue State for allegedly raping an eight-month-pregnant housewife, Mrs Patient Ona (25) in Obi LGA.

The suspect, who was said to have picked the victim in Irabi Ward on her way home from the market, branched into a bush and raped her around 7pm on June 7.

Contacted, the state command’s spokeswoman, SP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the incident to journalists, said the suspect had been brought to the police headquarters in Makurdi.
