A coal-laden articulated vehicle has reportedly crushed a commercial motorcycle rider and his passenger to death in Egume in Dekina LGA of Kogi State.
City & Crime gathered that the incident happened yesterday on the Egume-Anyigba highway when the articulated vehicle allegedly failed to brake and hit an unsuspecting Okada rider, killing him and an elderly woman said to be his passenger on the spot.
A local from the community, Atabor Achimugwu, said the scene of the incident was a glory sight, as parts of the motorcycle and shared remains of the victims littered around.
He said, “The incident happened shortly after the Okada rider picked up the woman from a suburb of the town on their way to the neighbouring town of Anyigba.

“We later learnt that the driver of the truck was battling a brake failure on the highway, unfortunately, the challenge overpowered him and hit the Okada man, killing him and his passenger on the spot.”
City & Crime further gathered that irate youths who were angered by the incident flagged down and set ablaze another truck of the company that arrived at the scene shortly after the incident.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Williams Aya, did not respond to text messages or calls put across to him about the incident.
