President of the association, Comrade Muhammad Sani Hassan in a press briefing over the weekend said the promise was made February in Lagos, during the association’s convention by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Musiliu Obanikoro.
“We want to use this medium to inform our amiable president, our teeming members and the general public that the 1000 units of tricycles promised by Mr. President to our association in respect of poverty alleviation scheme, officially announced by Musiliu Obanikoro to our members have not come to our association,” Hassan said.
He added that efforts to collect the tricycles did not yield any result.
Hassan, who congratulated the over nine million members of the association for conducting themselves well during the just concluded elections, commended President Goodluck Jonathan for exhibiting patriotism on the outcome of the elections.
He also urged president-elect Muhammadu Buhari to map out policies that will utilize and enhance the capacities of NACTOMORAS’ members, calling on state governments across the country to liaise with the association in the areas of job creation and security, stressing that unilaterally banning operations of his members will worsen the unemployment situation in the country.    
He lamented that the ban and restriction on activities of its members in some states have led to loss of over four million jobs, saying in 2011 the association had 13.5 million members, shrinking to 9.3 million currently.
