Speaking to Fever Pitch via a telephone chat from Glasgow yesterday, where Team Nigeria is competing for honours at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, Ogba added that he’s proud with what he has seen so far and that the future is bright for Nigeria’s sports considering the array of talents available to the country.
“You can see what we mean when we say Nigeria is a blessed country. Our athletes have shown that they have what it takes to compete with any from around the world, so we are really happy” he said.
When asked about Blessing’s amazing individual performances where she won gold in the women 100m in 10.85 seconds, setting a Games record and on Thursday the 200m clocking 20.25 seconds  confirming pre-tournament forecasts that the sprints medals were hers for the taking
“All I can say about Blessing is that she’s a blessing to Nigeria. We already know she could do it and she has proved us right”
Blessing Okagbare has been utterly dominant in this Commonwealth Games easing the painful memory of London Olympics 2012 where the 25-year-old finished last in the Olympic final but has now won the first of three possible individual titles in Glasgow.
Nigeria remains eight on the medal table with 30 medals comprising 9 gold, 7 silver and 14 bronzes.
